The 6" Marking Gauge is perfect for laying out dovetails and most regular or larger sized joinery. This is my favorite gauge size by far. The finish is attained by applying a hand rubbed oil/varnish which brings out the beautiful grain patterns from quarter sawn to flat sawn lumber. The blade has a fingernail grind that is razor sharp and helps to keep the layout line straight and true.
